FAQs
What is your question about?
Who is this for?
Who is coaching at the Identity Project for?
Coaching at the Identity Project is for people who feel out of sync with their work or life and want structured support to make decisions that reflect who they are now.
It suits those who are willing to look honestly at their patterns, question old roles or expectations, and make changes at a pace that respects their capacity.
Many clients are capable and high-functioning on the outside, yet privately feel tired, stuck, or unsure about their direction. This work is a good fit if you want thoughtful guidance, space to reflect, and practical support to shape a way of living and working that feels more like you now, rather than continuing on autopilot.

What to reset your business? Check out Mind Your Business Coaching.
You don’t need a perfect plan. You just need the willingness to look at what isn’t working and try a different way forward.
What do people usually come to you for in coaching?
People usually come to The Identity Project coaching when they feel stuck, out of sync, or unsure about their direction in work or life. They are often capable and functioning on the outside, yet privately feel tired, restless, or disconnected from what they are doing.
Common starting points include questioning career paths, navigating life or business transitions, feeling overwhelmed by responsibility, or noticing repeating patterns like overworking, people-pleasing, or difficulty making decisions. Some arrive after burnout or a major change, while others simply sense that their current way of living no longer fits, even if nothing looks “wrong” on paper.
To explore which coaching best suits you, book an exploration call to discuss your current situation and changes you desire to make.
Do you work with everyone?
No, The Identity Project coaching is not the right fit for everyone. Every coaching process begins with an exploration call to check whether the approach, pace, and expectations suit both of us.
This work fits people who are willing to reflect honestly, take responsibility for change, and stay engaged between sessions rather than relying only on advice. If it turns out this is not the right kind of support for you, you will be guided toward other options that better match your needs and circumstances.
Is this coaching only for entrepreneurs and freelancers?
No, this coaching is not only for entrepreneurs and freelancers. The Identity Project Coaching supports anyone who feels out of sync with their work or life and wants structured support to make decisions that reflect who they are now.
While many clients run their own businesses, the focus of this coaching is on identity, behavioural patterns, and decision-making. These themes affect how you show up in any role, whether you work for yourself, within an organisation, or are in a period of transition. People often come to this work when they feel pressure, are navigating change, or sense that their current way of living or working no longer fits.
Mind Your Business Coaching though, is especially for entrepreneurs and freelancers that want to optimise their routine, systems, and priorities, making their business fit how they work best.
I’m not a freelancer or entrepreneur. Can I still work with you?
Yes, the Identity Project Coaching is for you, even if you are not a freelancer or entrepreneur. This coaching is designed around identity, personal patterns, and life direction, not just business ownership.
Although many clients have their own businesses, the work goes far beyond strategy or career planning. It looks at the beliefs, habits, and decisions shaping your work, relationships, and everyday life. The aim is to help you build a way of living that reflects who you are now, rather than staying stuck in a role or path that no longer feels right.
How do I know The Identity Project is not for me?
This coaching may not be right for you if you are looking for quick fixes, surface-level motivation, or step-by-step instructions without self-reflection. The process is built around understanding your patterns, making conscious decisions, and taking responsibility for change between sessions.
It may also not be the best fit if you want fast results without deeper personal insight, or if you prefer a highly directive approach where someone tells you exactly what to do. In those cases, a more structured, short-term, or advice-led format may suit you better than identity-focused coaching.
What do you help with and what results can I expect?
What problems does coaching help with?
Identity-focused coaching helps with problems related to direction, decision-making, burnout, and repeating personal or professional patterns. It supports people who feel stuck, overextended, or uncertain about what they actually want next.
This coaching is particularly useful if you struggle with overthinking, self-doubt, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or constantly pushing yourself without feeling satisfied. It can also help during periods of transition, such as career changes, business pivots, shifting priorities, or redefining what success means to you. Rather than only solving surface issues, the work looks at the deeper patterns and beliefs that keep certain problems repeating.
What results can I realistically expect from coaching?
From identity coaching, you can realistically expect greater clarity about who you are now, what matters to you, and how you want to move forward. Most clients leave with a stronger sense of direction and more confidence in the decisions they are making.
You can also expect to better understand your patterns, such as overworking, avoiding, or second-guessing yourself, and to develop more supportive ways of responding. Over time, this often leads to clearer boundaries, more intentional choices, and work or life structures that feel more sustainable. The results are usually gradual and practical rather than dramatic or instant, built through consistent reflection and small, aligned changes.
What's the difference between Identity Coaching and Business Coaching?
Identity Coaching focuses on you; your patterns, values, decision-making, and the way you relate to work and life. It helps you understand what no longer fits, clarify what matters now, and make changes that feel aligned with who you are, not just what you think you should be doing.
Business Coaching builds on that foundation but includes more structure around your work, offers, direction, and how you shape your business in a way that supports your identity rather than drains it. The focus is not only on strategy, but on creating a way of working that is sustainable and true to you.
In short, Identity Coaching centres on personal clarity and alignment, while Business Coaching connects that clarity to how you design and run your work.
How do I know which coaching option is right for me?
The right coaching option depends on where most of your current tension sits. If you’re questioning your direction, feeling disconnected from your work, or trying to understand what actually suits you now, Identity Coaching is usually the best place to start.
If you already know you want support specifically with your business, such as refining your offers, structure, or how you work day to day, Business Coaching may be a better fit. Both tracks include identity work, but Business Coaching applies that insight more directly to your business decisions.
If you’re unsure, you don’t need to decide alone. We figure this out together during the exploration call based on your situation, goals, and capacity.
How we meet & work together
Where do we meet?
All coaching sessions take place online via Zoom. You will receive a calendar invite and a private link for each session in advance. Sessions can be recorded for your personal use, but this is always optional and based on your preference. Working online allows flexibility and consistency wherever you are based.
How often do we meet?
Coaching sessions usually take place every two weeks, depending on your goals, pace, and capacity. We decide on a rhythm together that supports steady progress without adding pressure to your life.
Some people prefer weekly sessions during times of change or decision-making, while others choose biweekly or monthly sessions to allow more space for reflection and implementation between conversations. As you evolve, the schedule can be always adjusted to your needs.
How long do sessions last?
Session length is decided together based on your goals, focus, and capacity. Common options are 45, 60, or 90 minutes. Shorter sessions can work well for accountability and focus, while longer sessions allow more space for deeper reflection and planning. We choose a rhythm that supports progress without adding pressure.

Do I need to prepare anything before sessions?
You do not need to prepare anything before sessions unless you want to. You are encouraged to show up as you are, with whatever feels most present or relevant that week. During the process, you will receive tools, exercises, and checklists to support your progress. Applying these between sessions is where much of the change happens.
What’s expected of me between sessions?
Between sessions, you can expect small, practical steps that help turn insight into real-life action. These might include reflection prompts, experiments, or changes in how you structure your time and decisions. The intention is steady progress without overwhelm. The pace is adjusted to match your capacity and current season of life.
Can I contact you between sessions?
Yes, you can contact between sessions for support and clarification. Coaching packages include light-touch support via email or voice message to help you stay on track with what we are working on.
This is not unlimited coaching by message, but a way to ask short questions, share reflections, or get perspective when something important comes up between sessions. Longer topics are saved for your next session, where we can give them the time and depth they deserve.
You can find the full details in our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
Why is there a 3-month minimum?
A three-month minimum is recommended because meaningful change takes time to move beyond surface insight. Patterns around identity, work, and decision-making usually develop over years, so they need space, repetition, and real-life practice to shift. This timeframe allows us to understand what is happening, test new approaches, and adjust based on what actually works for you. Shorter support can bring clarity, but ongoing coaching is what helps new ways of thinking and acting become consistent and sustainable.
What if I start coaching and change my mind later?
It’s normal for feelings and circumstances to shift during a coaching process. That’s also why the application and exploration process is taken seriously, so we can make sure the coaching is a good fit before we begin.
If something doesn’t feel right once we’ve started, we talk about it first. Often, adjusting the focus, pace, or structure can help the process feel more supportive and aligned with what you need at that moment.
If you decide coaching isn’t right for you, the minimum three-month commitment and notice period still apply. After that, you’re free to step away. In cases of genuine or unexpected circumstances, we handle situations with care and sensitivity and can discuss options such as pausing and continuing later when the time feels more stable. The aim is to balance flexibility with the continuity needed for meaningful work.

Practicalities before we begin.
How soon can I start?
You can usually start coaching within one to two weeks after your exploration call. This allows time to confirm that the fit is right, agree on the format, and schedule sessions at a pace that feels realistic.
If your situation is more time-sensitive, an earlier start is sometimes possible depending on availability.
Ready to begin? Complete this application form and book your exploration call.
How can I apply for coaching?
You can apply for coaching by filling this application form and booking an exploration call. These steps help us understand what you want support with and to see whether the coaching approach is a good fit for both of us.
After the call, if we decide to work together, we agree on the format, timing, and starting date. You’ll then receive a simple agreement and payment details to confirm your place. Coaching usually begins within one to two weeks, depending on availability and your preferred schedule.
How does the coaching application process work?
The coaching process begins with a short application form where you share what’s currently feeling off, where you feel stuck, and what you’d like to change. This helps us use our exploration call well.
During the exploration call, we talk through your situation in more depth, you get to ask questions, and we explore how we could work together. If it feels like a good fit on both sides, you’ll receive a tailored coaching outline after the call. This includes the themes we’ll focus on, the session format, the rhythm, and a proposed start date.
Once you’re happy with the plan, you’ll receive a simple agreement and payment details to confirm your place. Coaching usually begins within one to two weeks.
What happens in an exploration call?
An exploration call is a short, no-pressure conversation to see if coaching with The Identity Project is the right fit for you. We talk about what’s currently feeling off, what you want support with, and what kind of change you’re hoping for.
You can ask questions about the coaching process, and I’ll explain how we can work together, what support might look like, and whether I think I can genuinely help. There’s no obligation to continue. The goal is simply to check mutual fit and make sure the pace, focus, and expectations feel right on both sides.
Where do sessions take place?
All coaching sessions take place online via Zoom. You will receive a calendar invite and a private link for each session in advance. Sessions can be recorded for your personal use, but this is always optional and based on your preference. Working online allows flexibility and consistency wherever you are based.
What languages do you coach in?
Coaching is offered in English and Dutch. Basic communication in Spanish is also possible if needed, although sessions are most effective in English or Dutch. You are encouraged to choose the language in which you can express yourself most clearly and comfortably. This helps the work go deeper and feel more natural.
What’s included in a coaching project?
In every Project, you get: 1 intake call; regular coaching tailored to your capacity, session recordings + written recaps; next-steps checklists for clarity; between-session support (email/voice); evidence-based psychology tools and interventions; identity-led systems and curated resources to support independent progress; first access to The Identity Journal.

Do you offer group coaching?
Group coaching is not currently offered through The Identity Project. All support is delivered one-to-one, allowing the work to be tailored closely to your situation, pace, and capacity. This individual format supports deeper focus on your specific patterns, decisions, and circumstances. Small group or community-based options may be introduced in the future, but the current focus is on personalised coaching.
Annemiek
Do you offer couples coaching?
The Identity Project does not currently offer couples coaching. The work is designed for individuals who want to understand their own patterns, decisions, and direction in life or work. Relationship topics can be explored from your perspective within one-to-one coaching, but sessions are not structured as joint or relational therapy. If you are seeking support specifically as a couple, a relationship therapist or couples coach will be a better fit.
Do you offer speaking or guest coaching?
Yes, Annemiek offers speaking engagements and guest coaching in external programmes and events. She speaks on topics such as identity, entrepreneurship, burnout, and rebuilding life and work in a way that fits who you are now. Sessions can be tailored to workshops, communities, or professional groups looking for reflective and practical input. Speaking and collaboration invitations can be sent to annemiek@identityproject.online.
Do you have a community space?
The Identity Project does not have an open community space yet. Coaching is currently focused on one-to-one work, with tools and support designed for individual reflection and change. A community element is planned for the future to allow people to connect around shared themes like identity, work, and life transitions. For now, the main ways to stay connected are through LinkedIn, Instagram, newsletters, the Reset Letters, coaching, and upcoming journal resources.
Are you open to collaborations?
Yes, The Identity Project is open to thoughtful collaborations that align with our values and focus on identity, personal growth, and meaningful work. This can include podcast interviews, guest teaching, workshops, partnerships, and selected creative or educational projects.
We don’t take part in generic promotions, link swaps, or cold marketing pitches. If you have a collaboration idea that feels aligned, you’re welcome to share it.
Please email support@identityproject.online with a short description of your idea, your audience, and what you have in mind. If it’s a good fit, we’ll continue the conversation.
Coaching VS Therapy, Counselling or Mentoring
How is identity coaching different from therapy?
Identity coaching focuses on present-day patterns, decisions, and life direction, while therapy focuses on mental health and often explores past experiences in a clinical context. In the Identity Project Coaching, the work centres on how your current roles, habits, and expectations shape the way you live and work now.
The approach is practical and forward-looking, helping you make conscious choices about what fits and what does not. Identity coaching does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. If you need support for trauma, anxiety, depression, or other clinical concerns, therapy is the more appropriate form of care, and that route is encouraged alongside or instead of coaching.
Want to rebuild your life? Check out The Identity Project Coaching.
What to reset your business? Check out Mind Your Business Coaching.
How is identity coaching different from counselling?
Identity coaching focuses on helping you understand your patterns, clarify your direction, and make intentional life and work decisions, while counselling often provides emotional support for specific personal difficulties or life challenges. Counselling may explore your past and emotional experiences in more depth, depending on the approach used.
At The Identity Project, the work stays centred on who you are now, what no longer fits, and how you want to move forward. It is not a clinical service and does not involve diagnosing or treating mental health conditions. If you are looking primarily for emotional processing or therapeutic support, counselling may be a better fit, either alongside or instead of coaching.
How is identity coaching different from mentoring?
Identity coaching supports you in developing your own clarity, direction, and decision-making, while mentoring is usually based on guidance and advice from someone with specific experience in your field. A mentor often shares strategies, opinions, and step-by-step recommendations based on what worked for them.
At The Identity Project, the focus is not on telling you what to do, but on helping you understand yourself, your patterns, and your priorities so you can make choices that truly fit. The process is reflective and exploratory rather than advice-led, designed to strengthen your own judgement rather than replace it.
